Thank you! I'm so excited that I found this site. Looks like a lot of information and wonderful advice is available here.

In 6 months a dream that has been in process for 2 years will finally be realized as my husband and I move back to his family farm. located in New Ross, Nova Scotia.  They have an 100 acre farm that has been in the family for 2 generations, my husband makes the 3rd generation. We are hoping to be able to raise most of our own food.

I'm in the process of research all kinds of different areas that we are interested, from gardening, root cellar storage, cattle, chickens, livestock guardians, pigs, turkeys, goats, and sheep. We would like to stay with a lot of the heritage breeds. As I was researching goats I fell in love with pictures of the Nigerian Dwarf Goats. I've always fawned over the pygmies at the state fair. Reading up on all the breeds and finding that the Nigerian has the higher butterfat made me start researching more. My husband is interested in learning to make cheese, so I thought they would be the best choice for us.

If there are others around Nova Scotia Canada, please let me know, I'd love to find a herd around there and a mentor to help me start my own herd.
