"I have had terrible luck getting my goats bred in spring. In fact, one year I decided I was going to do 50/50 in fall and spring, and I wound up with half of my does not getting pregnant! And I had put them in a pen with a buck!  I did a survey…"

"Low fat cheese is gross! It can't be made at home or naturally. We made mozzarella with skimmed goat milk one time, and it was like chewing plastic. Parmesan is one of the few cheeses that must be made with low fat milk. But it's not…"

"I think the markets are just totally different. Butterfat is what is needed to make milk products like cheese and goat cheese is very very popular so in that respect that’s what you want. People don’t look at goat cheese fat the way they…"

Is high butterfat a good or a bad thing?

Hello,I have another question for you goat owners.I know that NDGs have the highest butterfat content in their milk, but are you sure that’s actually a good thing? I mean, we live in an era in which more and more people don’t want to gain weight and to eat food with lots of fat. I would love to buy some NDGs but I’m worried about non being able to sell the dairy products because of the high butterfat content. Thanks in advance,FrancescoSee More

"Chocolate pudding?  No, I've made chocolate ice cream, custard type.  There is something about it that is different from the vanilla, especially when I use Dutched cocoa.  Somehow, there is significantly less custard making it to…"

"Hi Francesco. I tried to post 2 different times to your question yesterday, but my internet was dragging and it must have timed out! Anyway- you use goat milk the same as cow milk. We actually only use our ND goat milk at our place. I’ve not…"

"Where are you located? I don’t personally breed my goats that late because of higher parasite loads on the ground during that time of year here in Texas. We breed to kid when temps are generally low for that reason."
