TRACTOR SUPPLIES GOAT CARE PAIL

HI EVERYONE MY NAME IS EDITH SANDRIDGE AND I HAVE 7 NIGERIAN AND 2 MINI SILKY FAINTING GOATS. I HAVE HAD GOATS FOR SOME TIME NOW AND LOVE THEM DEARLY. I HAVE 6 DOES GETTING READY TO KID WITHIN THE NEXT 2 WEEKS. I HAVE LEARNED ALOT OVER THE YEARS WITH MY GOATS AND HAVE LOST A FEW TOO.2 YEARS AGO I LOST A BUCK I KEPT FOR MY BREEDING BUCK AND HE WAS SOLID BLACK WITH BEAUTIFUL ICE BLUE EYES. I DIDN`T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT BARBARA POLE WORMS UNTIL IT TOOK HIM FROM ME.THAT WAS VERY HARD. I DID HAVE 3 DOES THE HE BRED AND I NOW HAVE HIS SON WHOE IS A DARK CHOCOLATE WITH SOME WHITE AND BLUE EYES.HE IS NOW 1 1/2 YRS OLD AND IS GOING TO BE A SMALL BUCK LIKE HIS DAD. I WILL POST SOME PHOTOS OF THE ALL SOME. I DO HAVE A QUESTION. I JUST STARTED USEING THE GOAT CARE PAIL AND THEY LOVE IT BUT I NOTICED THAT IT HAS CHANGE SOME OF THEIR STOOLS FROM THE NORMAL PEARL DROPPINGS TO LARGE SOFT STOOLS. IF ANYONE ELSE USES THIS HAS THIS HAPPEN TO THEM.JUST WONDERING IF I SHOULD STILL BE GIVING IT TO THEM OR SHOULD I STOP.

I used that pail for my bucks a long time ago -- long before I knew anything about goat nutrition. I quit using it because it changed their poop just as you described.

Now I look at the nutritional analysis on that bucket, and I see that it has very little in it as far as nutrients go. There should be about 10x as much copper as what's in there and and about 15x as much selenium, and those are just the numbers that I know off the top of my head. I know the others are really low but can't quote percentages without looking up the info.

Purina and Sweetlix both have good minerals. You have to buy Sweetlix from distributors, but Purina goat mineral is available at Tractor Supply, and they just reformulated it and reduced the salt, which was one of my big complaints about it in the past. Too much salt means the goats won't eat as much, which equals less minerals consumed, which is not good. They also increased several important nutrients, including copper, so I'm very happy with their new formula.
