Sucessful kidding!!! Baby with a floppy leg.

My doe FINALLY kidded today!!!

Two beautiful babies. Mama's name is The Magic Show  so  babies names are  (buck) Alacazam and (doe) Abracadabra. The one question I have is (being a new goat grandma and all) the buck  (the black one) has a bent ear and a floppy left hind leg.  His ear wings out and his leg looks double jointed our the ligaments are not tight or built right. It keeps flopping both ways and it makes it difficult for him to stand.   Has anyone seen this before and what can we do about them?

  • Excellent! Thanks for updating us!

  • The kids are 2 weeks today. The hock joint and the ear seem to have fixed themselves!! yeah

  • The joint is the left rear hock.  It is still wobbly today but seems a little more stable. Keeping an eye on it.  Thought about a splint but it has to be bent so don't know how I would accomplish that.

  • Congrats! The floppy ear should correct itself within a day or two. The leg will probably be fine too, but which joint is it? If it's the pastern (ankle) you can splint it for a day or two.
  • Oh wow, so adorable. Congratulations! Love the names, super cute. I don't know about the issue with the leg, just wanted to ooh and ahh over your babies. :)
