Service Fee For Rented Buck

Does anyone have experience with either using a buck service for your does or using your buck to service other people's does?  My does went to visit some bucks for three weeks in December.  The buck owner still hasn't decided what would be an appropriate charge for the service.  She suggested I ask on the forum what other's experiences have been.

Thanks!

  • Thank you, Britt. :)

  •  Hi, Charmaine!

I live between Renton and Issaquah.  I have 2 nigis, too, but my herd should double any time now (Was sure she would kid yesterday!).

    Hi Britt,

I'm also in Seattle!  I have 2 nigies in the White Center neighborhood... whereabouts are you?

In my area, Seattle, I usually see a fee of around $50.  I had my doe bred for a trade of teaching the buck owner how to make soap.   Her usual fee was $50, though.

  • Thanks, Ladies.

  • I charge $50, regardless of which buck, but I only breed does that were born on my farm and never bred elsewhere. That's for a driveway breeding. If I had to board does for a month, it would be considerably more. I think people charge $1-2 per day for boarding.

  • I know here in Colorado, as I kind of looked around before I bought my own buck, it depended on pedigree.  I saw service feed go from $50.00 to $150.00.  I have mainly seen 50-75 per doe.  A lady here in our town used my buck for services and I charge her $75.00 per doe.  My buck comes from the Kannah Creek and Promised Land Lines so I decided to charge a little more that $50.00.  Hope this helps...
