A quick curious question... I have a doe registered with NDGA.  I understand that she is unable to be registered in AGS or ADGA (I've emailed them and they let me know).  It made me wonder.  So, somewhere along the line a certain number of goats were registered with ADGA/AGS, and now only those goats descendants are eligible to be registered?  If someone fails to register kids along the way... well, too bad.  Is that the case? There is then no possible way to register via ADGA or AGS?  My goat's grandparents used to be registered with the ADGA, but they didn't register her sire.  Not sure about her dam.  Anyhow, in my quest to somehow get her registered I just thought this was curious...

  • Thanks Deborah!  Yes, I was definitely feeling a bit batty, lol.  I would like to have her registered with at least one of the other two because I like her, want to keep her and want her babies to be easier to sell.  Oh well!  :)  Thanks for explaining that!

  • A few years ago someone on here was able to register kids with AGS in this situation, but she had to register the goats between the registered goats and her goat. I don't know if ADGA will do that.

AGS was the original dairy goat registry that accepted Nigerians, so they have much more extensive herd books than ADGA, which only started registering the in 2005.

Goat politics can drive a person batty! NDGA was formed because people thought the goats should be smaller, and if you notice, their standard is smaller.
