  • I might know someone in Montana that will have a couple of wethers for sale in the next few weeks.  Let me know if you are interested.

  • As Amy said, be sure to get more than one because they are herd animals. A single goat will cause you a world of headaches! Conscientious and knowledgeable breeders don't sell single goats because they know this, but I've received plenty of phone calls from people desperate to find a second goat after they're already experiencing all kinds of problems with the single that someone sold them or that they picked up at a sale barn.
  • Sorry, I was out of town for a few days.  Karen lives in Carpenter 649-2216, and Cindy lives in Hillsdale 432-4324. They might have something, I'm not sure but worth a try.

Ok thank you. Do you know where the other breeders are?

  • Sarah,

Sounds like maybe you should start with a wether (a castrated male). They make great pets. At this point I would make sure that you have shelter and fencing that will keep him in. When they are babies they are very very small. Also, if you want to bottle feed you will need to make arrangements with a breeder beforehand so that they can be started on a bottle before you get them. I prefer disbudded goats (horns removed) and this is usually done by the breeder before they are a month old. If you want to wait until late winter/early spring I should have plenty. Plan on getting more than one as they are herd animals. Usually wethers sell for $50-$100. There are other a couple other breeders in your area that have large breed dairy goats if you want to contact them.

I live about 15 miles east of Cheyenne in Hillsdale. This is going to be my first time raising a goat or goats. I'm really not sure about anything. I do know that i want to get a goat while it's still young and it'll just be for a pet.

Hi Sarah. I live in Cheyenne and raise these little guys for milk and show. Right now I'm pretty well sold out until next spring, I only have a mature buck for sale. What part of Wyoming do you live in? If your in a hurry to buy we can see if any of the people I know have anything.  Amy
