Livin The Dream!

DH had to go in tonight to load a coal train so I am still up!  I work part-time 2 days a week so I have been able to take my little boys for walks up the mountain to the "flat" to let them enjoy.  The view is breath taking especially this time of year.  The leaves are so vibrant!  I have found out in  reading books and browsing the web that most goat owners get their does first.  Well, it really doesnt surprise me much that I am going at it backwards.. :)  But I was thinking today as Pedro, Napoleaon, and I were going for our daily walk that getting to spend this time with the boys first before getting the girls will be precious moments.  Napoleon (my buck) will definitely lose interest in me when they are brought on the scene.  So for now I will just enjoy being "queen" for the day!  I hope that everyone has had a wonderful week so far and I plan on getting a few pics of the mountain and our walks to share!

  • We are supposed to be getting doelings that are due to be born in November after they are weaned.  There is a farm a little closer and I may look into getting a FF from but if not it will be a while before we actually have babies on our farm.  We have separate areas for the boys and girls that we will be keeping them in.  Our plans are to have the goats for personal dairy purposes.

  • I like the way your doing it! My husband makes pets out of the bucks and it really helps that they like walking and spending time with us. Most of the year they are really not "bucky" and you can enjoy them :-)  Jordana @ nigerian meadows
  • Hej from Sweden,

I am so glad you looked at my little blog. Thank you for all your kind words. Having animals one must remember that there will be ups and downs, that's just the way it is. the sad moments can knock the wind out of your sails and the wonderful moments just set you flying for what seems like ever. I just love my home , my farm life and of course my goats.

I really wish the same for you.

You are welcome to check back from time to time for new happenings at Gullringstorp!

Can't wait to read that you have your farm and your goats!

Thank you so much, Hej, for your reply!  I visited your blog  your memoirs and pics are wonderful.  You have a beautiful farm and I just love your Nigis!  I am so very sorry for your recent loss.  I know that there will be moments like that I will probably have to experience as well.  That is why I try hard to not take anything for granted these days.  I try to bask in the good moments and memories!  Have  a wonderful day!

  • Welcome to the group!! We also started out with 2 boys, until one died only a week after getting them.  So the breeder replaced him for one of his does.  She is wonderful and our group has now grown to 5.  They are such amazing animals!! I have learned so much from this group of wonderful people.

  • Hej from Sweden

Sandra, you are living the dream!  It a wonderful experience having goats. You walks with Napoleaon and Pedro sound lovely. Enjoy your time with your "boys". I have 4 little bucks , 1 Nigerian wether who has never ever grown up physically and mentally, 2 Pygmy bucklings 9 mos old who are just to darling to describe and a 2 month old Nigerian  who was born to one of my does in August. My Flynn, Baby Boy and Balder share a box in my stable and I really enjoy spending time with them. Little Man is a dear, still with mommy but loves being brushed and taking short walks on a leash.

Your boys will remain special even after the "girls" arrive. I look forward to seeing their photos !

You are welcome to little blog to see my little boys: http://gullringstorpgoatsblog.wordpress.com
