Kid Weight

I know I've seen discussions on this before, but I was unable to find anything when I searched.  I have triplet bucklings from a first time doe.  They each weighed 2 1/2 pounds at birth.  They are currently 8 1/2 weeks old and still a bit small.  I have not weighed them recently, but plan to this week.  I will be hanging onto them until 12 weeks to give them some extra time.  What kind of weight is average for a 12 weeker?  I've usually had good sized kids and never thought to weigh.  Is there a percentage above their birth weight that is though of as ideal?  I'm sure there is more than one opinion on this, but would love to get an idea of some kind!

  • Perfect!  That's just the info I was needing!  Thank you! :)

  • They should double their weight by 1-2 weeks of age. By 2 months, 15 pounds or less is worrisome. I'm happy if they're 20 pounds, but if they have a bucket-busting mama and not too many siblings, it's not unusual for a kid to reach 25 pounds by then.
