I know, I know... I had one. Thing is, I haven't registered it with ADGA, and it's kinda not "it" for me...

So originally, I had decided on Cracked Egg farms... but my eggs look pretty weird with that name on them, and people don't "get" that it's a farm name and not that my eggs are cracked!! lol

So I figure, since I haven't registered it, it's not too late to pick something else...

The kids around here call me Momma Pretzel, and when I sub at the schools, I tell the kids to call me Mrs. Pretzel... when hubs was a kid, some of the kids called him Pretzel.

So I had thought I might use Pretzel Farm... (s?) Hubs isn't totally taken with that one... but I like the idea of Pretzel ________ or something with Pretzel in it.

I had thought of Pretzel Place too...

HELP!!!

  • Oh Mig Mog sounds adorable I love it!!!

  • Love mig mog -it's fun to say!

  • Of all the names you have mentioned, Mig Mog is my very favorite.  There is so much you can do with it - and when those kids are jumping around like grasshoppers, Mig Mog Jiggity Jog.  Mig Mog is totally a fun name, very appropriate with kids!  You can even come with lots of little two or three line rhymes to go with it for various photos at your website. (Mig Mog, that's my log.  See, you can be totally silly with it!)

  • I like Mig Mog.  The story is wonderful, and I agree with Margaret.  Take those ideas from hubby when you can.  It is a special name, and very unique.  Sorry to see Cracked Egg go, but Mig Mog is very fun! :)  Mig Mog...such a perfectly goaty name IMO!  Tell hubby I said, "Great job!" :)

  • Hmmm.....I have a few ideas:

    • Pretzel Acres
    • Pretzel Mog Farms
    • Mogzel Acres
    • Pretzel Hill
    • MigMog Hills

    Just some thoughts! Good luck!

  • Just MigMog on the papers would be nice and short or if you plan to use the acres too, it still won't be to terribly long!

And yes, I think it is cute and so is the story and I have a thing about going with the stuff Hubbys suggest as long as it is cute. Because it really seems to help them to get involved and causes them to be even more supportive. You know kinda like kids!

The stinky fart thing caused me to not help but think about stinky bucks! When you buy you a fine buck that carries another herd name you can name it MigMog and call it that! The way we named our first ND doe born here carrying the Oldesouth herd name Penny! As our others born here will carry BentPenny as their herdname! I just thought that it was the only appropriate thing for me to do as she was the only kid and I knew she would not be for sale!

    I say go for it!

  • lol I love it, Glenna!! lol It would be my LGM lol Livestock Guardian Monster. lol

  • Love "MigMog" without the more recent history of the word.<g>  However, that may very well describe barn-cleaning time.  If it were around here, mid winter it could be MigMog the BigBog because of our winter rains, and rains, and rains.  I love that it was a monster's name, a monster that can now protect the goats. :-)

  • OK, so last night, my husband threw ANOTHER name out at me, and I might like it the best... lol

When he and his brother were kids, they invented a monster called a MigMog... it lived in their pool. lol

When our boys were little, we embellished on those MigMogs with a few details. MigMogs smell like stinky farts, and are mischievous.

Last night, my hubby mentioned he liked the idea of calling our little farm MigMog Acres. So it's down to this: MigMog Acres, or Pretzel Place. Thoughts?

  • Glenna, I won't use farm if I keep Cracked Egg. That's all the herd name would be, is Cracked Egg. :)

I did have a logo with a cracked egg on it... lol It seems to be lost when people don't stop to really REALLY pay attention at the market.

    SO...

Change of names it is. I'm planning to stick with 15 or less characters if I can, including spaces. Some other names we've thought of:

Twisted Pretzel (thanks for that one!)

    Laughing Pretzel

    Pretzel Acres

So far, Pretzel Place is the one I keep coming back to. I think the reason I like it, is because I can use the whole thing in a registration, and because around these parts, we say "You know the Smith place?" when we're talking about a local family's property or going to visit. "Hon, I'm going to Kevin's place, be back in a few!" Also, Jess, we live in a VERY small town. People know us. They won't think we're suddenly making Pretzels at our house. lol

Cracked Egg Farm with spaces is 17 letters (counting the one at the end) and 15 without (again counting the one at the end).  That leaves minimal space for naming the kids (30 letters total including spaces).  I just went through that when registering my first kid with the breeder's herd name being so long.  My herd name is eight letters (counting the space at the end) to give me more naming freedom.

Rachel's issue was not the name (a great name!) but that she sells eggs and customers might not be comfortable buying "Cracked Egg" eggs.  My comeback, if I were questioned about a box of her eggs, would be "of course they are cracked when I use them, they are meant to crack."  She might be able to get around the concern with a logo showing an egg being cracked into a mixing bowl or a skillet.  Add a slogan, "The egg you want to crack" and it might work but she does have to consider her market.  Of course, the herd name can still be "Cracked Egg" and the farm name for eggs be different but that likely defeats her purpose.
