Hello

Not new to goats as I have had goats for at least 50 years. I started very young. I had Nigerians back in the 90's when they were pretty rare. Have bred and shown alpines for many years. Have gone out of goats (kept small dry herd) a couple times. Been out of goats (small dry herd) the last 4 years. Got the goat bug and bought 2 Nigerian does. She just recently kidded with 3 does kids. What a way to jump in. Also bought a nice buck to use later this year. Been cleaning the barn of old stuff and good stuff such as disbudding iron and tatto outfit. Hubby has been involved and humors me.....he has been on many goat adventures and shows over the years. Goat stuff has certainly changed over the years.

  • Welcome! And congratulations on the triplet doelings! That's a much better start than we had back in 2002 (5 bucks, 2 does) in our first kidding season.

You're right that things have changed a lot. I've seen a ton of changes just in the last 15 years. They've done more research in the last 10 years than in the previous 50, so a lot of practices have changed in the last few years.
