for people who love the littlest dairy goats
Hi all wanted to share a recipe I got from Julie Norris Johns for goat treats. I wanted to share with you all as my goats devoure them.
2 cups Oatmeal
3 Cups Whole wheat flour
2 cups cron masa flour
1/2 cup sunflower oil
1/2 cup peanut butter
2 cups water
3 tsp minced garlic
Mix all together , roll out to desired thickness and cut to desired size. Cook at 250-300 degrees for at least 1 1/2 hours until they are done (crunchy looking)
I have altered this recipe a few times all ready. I have used what ever oil I have as I am out of sunflower oil. I have added a small jar of baby fruit and have some carrots to add to next batch. I put in dry fruit also. Do I measure Nope just pour some in. I also use plain peanut butter as I hate all the crunch nuts falling out. I also pour in some honey. I have used fresh fruit also but it makes them a little slower to dry.
Julie says that she has been told that a gas oven cooks faster than electric oven. I have had too cook a little over 1.5 hours a couple of times. She reports to make sure they are dry before storing so they do not mold.
Heck mine don't stick around long enough to mold. They mob us to get to them.
Easy recipe and goats love you for them.
Don't forget you can give fruit to the goats for treats. I just learned that some of mine really like bananas, oranges, apples and Kiwi. They eat peels and all on the bananas.
