Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats

for people who love the littlest dairy goats

So my goats come home in 27 days and I still have a few questions that I'll be posting in the appropriate sections but I figured I'd do a quick intro post first. I have a small acreage near Winnipeg Canada that I'm slowly working on turning into a hobby farm. Our current project is goats so over the next couple weeks we have to finish building the goat shelter (stud walls are up, just have to put in an inner wall and do the roof and sheeting). And finish the fencing (we have one side of the fence up). And then there's a few smaller things to build, a hay feeder, milking stand and a few other little things.

Welcome! And congratulations! Are you getting goats in milk?

Tanya, welcome to the adventure that are goats.  It sounds like you are well on your way to being ready.

Thanks! I'm lucky enough to live close to a farm that does classes all the time, I did their one class last year on milking, cheese and soap making, and then just last week I took their everything dairy goat class so more cheesemaking, and a lot of health/first aid stuff. We just missed witnessing a birth by a couple hours! She's looking for someone to potentially take over some of her classes and I'm considering possibly doing that.

Wow, what an incredible opportunity and resource.  I've had a hard time just finding quality goats here in South Carolina much less something as cool as that.  I am just getting started myself and would kill for a resource like that.
