  • Actually I read that the mold spores are IN the grain when you put it in the trays. Most sites recommend soaking the grain in a tbsp of bleach to kill the mold spores before you drain them to sprout. I intend to try vinegar instead. I am just setting up my fodder system. I'll be posting my results soon. My first attempt was a fail due to mold but I haven't tried sterilizing the seeds first yet.

  • You need air circulation and good drainage to prevent molding.  Here's a blog link that I've read on fodder.

  • I read a blog post about this problem, and the person said it was because her trays were not draining properly. Having sprouted lots of alfalfa and mung beans for human consumption over the years, I know that those seeds will mold if you leave the seeds sitting in water.

  • I believe it molds when it's too cold.
