Disbudding Trouble

Hi all.  I need some advice please.  My doe gave birth to triplet girls on the 27th of February.  They were all healthy and she was nursing well.  At 5 days old, I disbudded all of them and tattooed them.  No one had any issues.  I always spray the disbudded area with the aluminum aerosol bandage called Aluma-shield and I felt that was especially prudent this time because we are having a fly problem right now.  So, everyone was fine, but the largest and healthiest triplet had some of that clear ooze the disbuddings will get every once in a while.  However, hers kept oozing and oozing.  Then it started oozing so bad that it would be dripped down the front of her face towards her eye by morning.  I was worried it would get her eye infected so I have been trying to keep very vigilant about cleaning her up to keep it away from her eye.  It's not infected.  It doesn't smell bad and it is still clear, but it won't stop.  I finally cleaned all the aluminum bandage off today and Betadined it hoping to help dry it up.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I have never had a disbudding go badly and actually I don't feel that the disbudding was bad...it still looks like I did a complete job without burning too much or too little, but I just can't get it to dry up.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

  • How is she doing?  I've never seen the clear oozing thing.  Can't really help there, but am still wondering how she is.  I'm thinking perhaps some blue kote or blood stop powder might be the things I'd try, but I'm sure that it's stopped by now anyway.  Best wishes!
