Dansha farms milker - what a joke!

Has anyone else had experience with Dansha Farms? I ordered a manual milker from them and the pump on it broke on the first use. It just snapped. So we called them and they said they'd send out a replacement pump. It arrived a couple of days later, packaged in a bubble envelope, which I thought was weird because it didn't seem very secure. Sure enough, the replacement pump was broken as well. When we called them, the woman there took a major attitude with us. She acted like we were lying and when I said to forget it, that I wanted a refund, she got a nasty tone to her voice and said "here we go!" Then to top it off, she wanted us to pay the return postage on their defective merchandise! 

I'd read decent reviews on this milker, but either we're unlucky or they're using cheap parts now. But even if they had a good product, the customer service was so appalling that I'd never do business with them again. Guess I'll have to either make my own or save up for an Udderly EZ milker since hand-milking just isn't possible with my arthritis. So infuriating.

  • I also have arthritis and needed a milking machine.  We converted a Babson surge milker and it works great and was less money than a new milking machine.   Would be very reasonable if you already had a pump.   I have the prices and pictures for everything  on my website.   windingrvrfarm.com    The conversion we used was for the little goats. 

    I tried a manual milker - I think it was called EZ milker before we did this.   It was worthless as far as I was concerned and had no pulse so probably not good for the goat.  Harder on my hands than hand milking.   

  • Some of  you may be wondering why in this thread I look like I'm talking to myself. If you missed it,  Sharon Beffa of Dansha Farms came on this thread and attempted to shame me for sharing my experience with them. After the exchanges, she deleted all of her comments. Her actions really say more than I ever could about their company and their customer service. I wish I had known about this before purchasing from them (BTW, the milker was bought by my son as a gift to help me with milking because he knows I have arthritis).  So I thought I'd leave this thread even though it is way off topic and rather unpleasant.  I've reported them to the BBB, but I have almost no hope they will rectify this situation. I guess the lesson is "buyer beware"!

    Now back to the important stuff - goat talk!


  • My husband tells me you never said any such thing. This is not the place for you to try to defend yourself. Either send the shipping label so I can return your broken merchandise or I will continue to spread the word about your bad customer service in all the milking/dairy forums.

      No where does it say that the cost of returns are the customer's responsibility. There are no reputable businesses I know of that expect a customer to bear the cost of returning defective merchandise, no matter how it got defective. I assume you insured that flimsy envelope you sent it in, and if you will collect the insurance if I send it back, so you profit that way too. I can NOT believe how awful your business practices are!

  • I haven't heard of them, but that's a pretty terrible experience. 

    I was sent an Udderly EZ for review, and I would not recommend it for regular milking. It works better on some goats than others, but it doesn't get any of them empty. The thing most people complain about is that it doesn't pulse. It just sucks. If you are just looking for a little relief so that you don't have to milk through an entire milking, it could help with that, but I would not expect it to take the place of hand milking entirely.

    They have a video on YouTube with a woman who looks like she's milking goats in her house, and she makes a comment about her doe starting to dry up because she kidded two or three months ago. That comment made no sense to me at all until I tried the milker, and I can tell you that if that goat was not nursing kids for the first two months, and this woman was only using that milker, that's why she was drying up so soon.

    It's okay for an every now and then use. I have a friend whose husband can't milk, so when she's not home, he uses it. It's better than nothing.
